Australian Milking Machine Trade Association Gaining Your AMMTA Qualifications
There still seems to be people out there who do not understand how an AMMTA Testing or Installation Qualification is achieved.
So, briefly the detail is:
In short you need to prove to your industry peers that you are competent to carry out standard testing procedures and/or you are able to demonstrate to industry assessors that you can and do install equipment in compliance with industry and performance standards. This industry assessment is not based on academic qualification - it is based on you demonstrating that you can do the job.
All that is required to gain an AMMTA Testing Certificate is for you to submit 5 shed tests which you have completed yourself for assessment by AMMTA Executive. Assuming these 5 tests are okay we can then schedule you to have a sixth shed test under supervision by a qualified workplace trainer/AMMTA nominated assessor. That process costs $770.00 inc. GST and provides you with an AMMTA dry testing certificate.
Before applying you need to have had a bit of workplace experience and on the job (workplace) training with other people in your business so you are quite familiar with the testing process - including the little knotty bits like undershoot and overshoot and you are able to demonstrate that to an assessor. If you are starting from scratch you have two options; one is to go out there and test under supervision within your business or alternatively you can undertake a formal training through the TAFE system.
The AMMTA Installation Certificate is achieved through the inspection by AMMTA nominated assessors of completed installations or part installations that have been carried out by the fitter. Currently it is a requirement that you have a testing certificate before applying for installation inspection.
Cost of an Installation Inspection for suitably qualified individuals is $770.00 and inspected sheds need to have a commissioning test which will demonstrate that the equipment is operating in accordance with performance standards following completion.
